English Romantic Painter, 1775-1851, British land- and seascape artist. Born in London the son of a barber, Turner was precociously talented. He entered the RA Schools in 1789, had a drawing exhibited at the academy in 1790, and was elected a full academician in 1802. He became professor of perspective in 1807. A prolific artist of amazing range of subject and style, he began work in water-colours, quickly founding both a reputation and a fortune, which made him independent of changing public taste. His work was not appreciated by everyone, but his supporters included Thomas Lawrence, John Ruskin, and the earl of Egremont. Marinus van Reymerswaele
Flemish Northern Renaissance Painter, ca.1490-1567 South Netherlandish painter. He has been identified with Marino di Sirissea and with Marinus de Seeu, painter of Romerswaelen, mentioned respectively by Guicciardini and van Mander. He could quite possibly have been Moryn Claessone, native of Zeeland, who enrolled as a pupil of 'Simon the glassmaker' in the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1509. In that case he would have been born c. 1490-95. Claes van Ziericsee, an artist who became master of the Guild in 1475, is assumed to have been his father though this cannot be proved conclusively. Van Reymerswaele's work corresponds closely with Antwerp painting of the beginning of the 16th century

William Keith
(Nov 18, 1838 - April 13, 1911) was a Scottish-American painter famous for his California landscapes. Keith was born in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and emigrated to the United States in 1850. He lived in New York City, and became an apprentice wood engraver in 1856. He first traveled to the American West in 1858, after being assigned to do illustrations for Harper's Magazine. He moved to England briefly, working for the London Daily News.
